On June 13, 2014 at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, California, Holocaust survivor and hero of the Dutch Resistance Curt Lowens took the stage along with the Glendale Philharmonic Orchestra. Sharon Farber, co-founder of The Bestemming Project was inspired by Lowen's story of heroism and sacrifice, and created a landmark musical work that has been called "a bridge builder between cultures." Joining Farber and the orchestra that night were the Consul Generals of Germany and The Netherlands, along with the consular office of Israel and Ken Howard, President of SAG/AFTRA to unite and recognize what is the mission of The Bestemming Project: To develop musical and artistic programs that inspire and celebrate the power of the individual while fostering remembrance, awareness, tolerance and understanding for all people.
